Routine treatment

The surgery is fully equiped to deal with any chiropodial problem. The most common treatments include hard skin and corn removal and reduction of thickened or ingrown nails. These are the "routine treatments" which are alleviated painlessly. All equipment is sterilised before use and full health and safety precautions are adhered to.

Laser treatment

This is mainly used on heel pain but can be used on verrucae and warts. Treatment is carried out on a weekly basis for about six sessions.  You will need to follow a treatment plan such as wearing heel cups in the case of plantar fasciitis or use home treatment for verruca for the plan to be successful.

Cryosurgery

This is the method by which warts and verrucae are treated with liquid gas such as carbon dioxide to kill the wart virus. This treatment needs to carried out every two weeks along with a home treatment such as Glutarol. Due to the nature of viruses, no guarantee can be given that tretament will be successful and it needs to be pointed out that some people are very susceptible to the virus and no matter how many treatments are done the virus can remain.

This surgery has a policy of treating verrucae for twelve months maximum and if they have not resolved then a referral to a Podiatric Surgeon is offered for removal by excision or electrosurgery.

Nail Surgery

Ingrown nails are painful. They can be treated regularly with routine treatment but it is cost effective for the patient to have the nail permanently removed under a local anaesthetic if it gets infected regularly or is painful during treatment. This procedure is carried out at the surgery and will involve a simple procedure known as a Partial or Total Nail Avulsion where the offending nail is removed and a chemical applied to the root to stop it regrowing. It normally takes around 45 minutes for it to be done and you will need to return after 3 days for a redressing. After this time you can dress the toe yourself until it stops weeping (usually between 2 - 10 weeks).

Biomechanics

You may be suffering from flat feet, plantar fasciitis (heels spurs) or aching legs. These can be treated successfully with insoles or orthotics. You will be assessed and a template or cast taken of your feet so that a pair of insoles can be manufactured to your specifications. These will align your foot and help you walk correctly.

Other treatments
