Dual density tissue stress relief orthotic.
The Vasyli McPoil Orthotic incorporates intrinsic features based on the McPoil Hunt Theory of Tissue Stress. The orthotic has a softer density overlay material to allow for the normal amount of pronation, while preventing over or excess pronation with a higher density orthotic shell.
The Vasyli – McPoil Tissue Stress Relief pre-fabricated foot orthotic is the result of the collaboration between Vasyli Medical’s Innovation Director, Chairman and Podiatrist Phillip Vasyli and Prof. Thomas G. McPoil PhD, PT, ATC.
In 1995 McPoil and Hunt published a paper in the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy entitled: “Evaluation and Management of Foot and Ankle Problems: Present and Future Directions”. It introduced the Load Deformation Curve, which subsequently became the basis of the Tissue Stress Theory.
The Vasyli – McPoil Signature Series Tissue Stress Relief Orthotic is based on a dual density construction designed to allow for “normal” foot pronation but prevent “over pronation”. This is a construction that Tom has utilized in over 30 years of practice treating a wide range of lower limb biomechanical disorders in both athletes and non-athletes.
Tom’s product aspirations have now been brought to fruition. Vasyli's expertise in orthotic design and manufacture has enabled the success of Tom’s “in house” product to be available to Practitioners around the world.
